- On the other hand traditional media , in particular, newspapers and magazine must conform to its evolution by converging their product in order to function successfully in today's developing technology society. Print institution must now not only compete with others of their own industry, but also those of new and media , ensuring audience can access their products in a variety of way as they have the ability to with new media. Large newspaper and magazine corporation with a wide mainstream audiences must be aware of the ways in which globalisation is affecting how we consume the media and must positively respond and adapt to these changes to maintain audience's interest and engagement in the face of the more innovative new media development want to explore.
secondly, UGC has also played a major role in empowerment of audiences. This makes audiences no longer passive, in fact they are more actively taking part in the creation of media. The sharing between audiences and producers has allowed UGC to take place which can done in social networking sites like YouTube, Myspace, Twitter and Facebook. According to Sherry Turkle social networking have isolated us from 'real human interaction in a cyber-reality that is poor imitation of real world'. However, it als0 raises concerns over the regulation by the gatekeepers. There is less censorship over the content produced by citizen journalists which means that the information provided can be invalidated at times. This shows that the audiences are empowered by these development but o a certain extent.
To conclude, despite the success in adapting to new media that this traditional institution has achieved, questions can be raised over the profit that is actually made from the changes. In this case, all online content from The Daly Telegraph is available for free so this institution must rely on advertisement to fund the websites, a seemingly capable way to tackle this problem. however, for some newspaper institution this could result in a loss, exemplified by Rupert Murdock who would lose £56 million without charging for online content of The Time and The Sunday Times through the use of a paywall. In addition to this, it can result in competition between newspapers institution as well as with institution such as the BBC whose content is always free, questioning the success o the changes traditional media have made and whether they will able to compete wit new an digital media.

Representation of race and ethnicity
London Olympic 2012 opening Ceremony
The London Olympic opening ceremony was about representation and ethnicity and how society in Britain is so multicoloured. Its portrayed progression view for example the family. the dad was black and the mum was white; with a mixrace kid which is an great example of Diversity. The fact that teenagers all around the world being together and getting along celebrating this event shows the world how multicultural London really is. We can refer this to the Alvarado's Humorous theory as they have made the whole concept funny. This then gives Britain a very good representation that they are very caring and loving. That everyone cares for each other in Britain and how they don't think a difference in people from all backgrounds. The second video we watched was the NHS celebrating the opening ceremony of the Olympics. The reason the NHS were there to celebrate the opening ceremony was because the NHS is a very big part of UK and how every year they help millions if people stay aware from illness.

I think that
the Daily Mails article for the NHS was negative. The NHS have saved millions of people’s lives every year. The NHS is unique for UK, as no
one in any other country saves people’s lives for free. Where ever you go in
the world you will have to pay for your treatment. writing about a small boy who was killed by the NHS for not suppling him with a glass for water, when the boy was in hospital.this will lead to Alvardo Theory's this goes into the factor old dangerous and pitted. Overall, the Daily Mail has a very
wrong sense of the NHS, they cannot just discriminate the NHS, and The NHS is
such a powerful aspect of Britain, which makes Britain very unique.

How your child's art could unlock a more secure online world
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jan/17/how-your-child-art-secure-online-bbc-data
Summery of the Story: In this article it talks about how kids in society today are unlocking and guessing you pins and passwords. The BBC is exploring a child-friendly password tool and a way to offer tailored services. Kids often change parents pin and forget it in a matter of an hour. Think through all the competencies required to log in to a website. Not only do you have to be able to read and write – in an age of touchscreen computing, not at all something which can be assumed of everyone online
My view on story:
I think that the BBC should secure their online websites and apps more so that kids so that kids don't read or understand them easily like they do now.

Research on Post-Colonialism
12 years A Slave:Trailer
Chris Rock is an African American comedian who is on television. In terms of Alvardos theory of racial representations, he is considered as humorous he is a comedian and therefore is not represented or looked upon as dangerous.
By watching this trailer we can see that a black man called
Solomon is trying to fight for his survival and freedom. Solomon family look wealthy and rich; an ordinary american family. however, during the
pre-civil war in united states many black people were treated badly and their wealth and property was taking away. Then these people were sold to one person to the other. Facing
cruelty as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay
alive, but to retain his dignity. Through
the collapse of identity and white prevalence, 12 Years a Slave
tries and subverts order and chaos in post-colonial America.
Also we can refer it to the Avarado theory due to the fact that these black man (slaves) are seen
to be 'Dangerous'
to society although they are in a lower status than the white men they still
fear them as they crave freedom and will kill without thinking twice.
D Jango unchained: Trailer
This film was based on an African-American
man wanting to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation
owner.2 years before the Civil War pits brother-against-brother, German-born
fugitive hunter Dr. King Schultz arrives in America determined to capture
the outlaw Brittle brothers dead or alive. In the midst of his search a
freed slave and skilled tracker who seeks to rescue his beloved wife
Broomhilda. They plan to haunt down other outlaw during the winter
in order to free his wife. In many shots in the trailer they show off the black
guy’s knowledge and how the American listens to his words and almost obeys
them. This goes against the topical stereotype of a black man,
as we expect the Americans to be the one leading, to this "civilised" group of people, slavery was an educating enterprise. In return for the gift of civilisation and, let's not forget, Christianisation, slaves were expected to obey and to serve. slavery and race are exhibited through the lens of violence, blood and death. D jango is a slave with attitude and panache. In addition, we can refer this
to the Frantz Fanon theory (black skin white mask) as he speaks in an educated
tone.
In comparison, you can see that both trailers are quite similar in terms of the representation and the characteristics of the African-American and American themselves.

Wikipedia: Breaking Bad leads TV dramas in top pages list
http://www.theguardian.com/media/2014/jan/10/wikipedia-top-pages-2013-breaking-bad
Summary of the story: This article talks about the TV drama Breaking Bad. This TV show ranked third in Wikipedia's English-language searches Photograph which was written and published by Frank Ockenfels. This was also one of the Wikipedia top 100 list in 2013.

In my opinion I think that breaking bad is a great show but not that great to be on of the popular TV dramas in 2013 as there are shows which are better bigger. This show is the most overrated show ever made.

Black Mirror: The National Anthem
Documentary
What is the message of Black Mirror: The National Anthem ?
The message is that new and digital media has had a enormous impact on society and peoples life in general.Due to the fact that people are use to traditional media like the television and newspaper; instant news and instant access to information means that the media and news must update their news hourly and must be keeping up to date, to the minute in order for them to stay in competition with social media such as Twitter and Facebook. The viral of the YouTube clip in the short film, and them taken it down 9 minutes later and still went viral shows the viewers how fast the web is and once something is put on the web, you no longer have control over it due to the vast amount of people on the internet. This again suggests that the Prime Minister and the Government have no power or control over the content that goes on social networking sites or the internet.
